Manhunt underway in Sedalia for escapee from courthouse

Sedalia Police and Pettis County Sheriff’s deputies are currently searching for a fugitive this morning who escaped the custody of a deputy who was trying to arrest the man for a warrant at the Pettis County Courthouse.

Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond said the man was making an appearance in court for another matter at around 10 a.m. When the court bailiff noticed that the man, Jeremiah Jones, 35 of Sedalia, had a warrant, he attempted to take him into custody. A struggle ensued and Jones escaped from the courthouse The bailiff ripped off his shirt during the struggle. Local law enforcement are currently searching for the Jones in and around downtown Sedalia.

Jonesis described as a white male wearing blue jeans and no shirt. He has multiple tattoos, according to sheriff’s officials. If you see anyone matching this description, call 911 or contact the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at 660-827-0052.
