Man arrested for DWI in Benton

A Lincoln man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle accident at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Daniel C. Shute, 23, of Lincoln, was driving east on state Route H, four-tenths of a mile east of Duran Creek Avenue, when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Jason R. Schenewark, 40, of Lincoln, head-on.

Both Schute and Schenewark were taken by Life Flight to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

Reports indicate Schute was not wearing a seat belt. It is unknown if Schenewark was wearing one.

Shute was also arrested on charges of second degree vehicular assault, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident and failure to register a motor vehicle.

Two seriously injured in Moniteau

Two women sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at Tuesday in Moniteau County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Sabrina D. Fields, 24, of Sedalia, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50, a half mile west of Snorgrass Road, when she attempted to pass a vehicle and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle driven by Samantha R. Kessler, 21, of Lee’s Summit. Both vehicles exited the right side of the road in an attempt to avoid the collision.

Both Fields and Kessler were taken by Mid-Mo Ambulance District to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for their injuries.

It is unknown if either of the drivers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
