Cold temps, snow arrive in the area

Sun and blue skies were no indication of the 10-degree temperatures in West Central Missouri Sunday. Snow also accompanied the cold on Sunday leaving a trackless dusting at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on state Route U south of Sedalia near state Route V.

Snow and cold temperatures caused smaller streams to freeze over. Several cows near Cheese Creek Road, in Benton County, nudge a snow and ice covered stream for a drink Sunday afternoon. It will continue to be cold today with a low of 14 degrees. Tuesday should see slightly warmer weather with a chance of snow and a high of 31 degrees

Due the cold and snow, most rural areas were quiet Sunday with not much activity from man nor beast. Farm equipment sits near a snow covered field at Von Holten Road along state Route U Sunday afternoon.
