Three dead in Henry crash
Three people died after a two-vehicle accident at 6:05 p.m. Sunday in Henry County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ray T. Kegley, 80, of Odessa, was driving north on state Route 13, a half mile north of NE 530 Road, when he attempted to pass another vehicle on a hill and struck a southbound vehicle driven by William T. Leonard, 20, of Chilhowee, head-on.
Kegley and Leonard were pronounced dead at the scene by Henry County Coroner D. Sisk around 6 p.m. A passenger in Leonard’s vehicle, Taylor J. Leonard, an infant, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger in Leonard’s vehicle, Katrice L. Decker, 18, of Chilhowee, was taken by air EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with serious injuries. A passenger in Kegley’s vehicle, Tammy J. Goff, 52, of Independence, was also taken by air EMS to Research Medical Center with serious injuries.
Reports indicate all occupants of Leonard’s vehicle were using a seat belt or car seat, but Goff and Kegley were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sedalia Police Department reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
