After several months of searching, the City of Sedalia has named a new Public Works Director.
According to a news release, the Sedalia City Council approved the hiring of Brenda Ardrey as the Public Works Director during a closed session Tuesday night.
Ardrey has a Bachelor of Science-Business Administration degree from Central Missouri State University and an Associates of Science-Business Administration degree from State Fair Community College, with her functional major in accounting.
She also has more than 37 years of business experience in both the private and public sector. For the last 12 years, Ardrey has worked for the Missouri Department of Natural Resource, eight of these years as an Operations Section Chief for the Solid Waste Management Program.
“The Public Works Director position requires an individual with strong management and communication skills, in-depth knowledge of municipal government accounting practices and public works experience,” Mayor Stephen Galliher said in the release. “Ms. Ardrey’s education and work history will support the City of Sedalia’s mission to provide quality customer service and a safe environment to our citizens.”
Public Works Executive Administrative Assistant Ellen Cross has served as Interim Public Works Director since mid-October, but per her request she was not considered as a candidate for the permanent Public Works Director position.
Ardrey will begin March 1.
