Clinton man dies after wreck

A Clinton man died after a single-vehicle accident at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gary D. Portwood, 63, was driving south on state Route 7, three-tenths of a mile north of NW 501 Road, when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, went through a barbed wire fence and came to rest.

Portwood, who was wearing a seat belt was taken by Golden Valley EMS to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. He was pronounced dead at 10:24 a.m. at the hospital due to cardiac arrest.

Two injured in Henry crash

Two women were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 12:50 p.m. Thursday in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Maranda K. Spencer, 21, of Osceola, was driving north on NE 101 Road, one-tenth of a mile north of state Route 52, when her vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

Spencer was taken by Golden Valley EMS to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton with minor injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, Tasha Sharp, 19, of Clinton, was taken by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with moderate injuries.

Reports indicate both Sharp and Spencer were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Sedalia man injured in accident

A Sedalia man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:48 p.m. Thursday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Patricia D. Debo, 49, of Sedalia, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50, west of Main Street, when her vehicle overtook and struck the rear of another westbound vehicle driven by Quintin L. Longh, 54.

Longh was taken by private vehicle to Johnson County Community Health with minor injuries.

Reports indicate both Longh and Debo were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
