Columbia man injured in accident

A Columbia man sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 8:32 p.m. Thursday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, an eastbound semi-truck driven by Roberto A. Maysonet, 46, of Cleveland, Ohio, was slowed due to traffic on Interstate 70 at the 74 mile marker. A vehicle driven by Vincent E. Altomari, 20, overtook and struck the rear of the semi.

Altomari was taken by Sweet Springs EMS to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.

Reports indicate both Maysonet and Altomari were both using a safety device at the time of the accident.

Sedalia man injured in Pettis crash

A Sedalia man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 8:44 p.m. Thursday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Donavan K. Meeks, 31, was traveling westbound on an ATV in the 2700 block of state Route M when his vehicle struck a stump. Meeks was ejected from the vehicle.

Meeks, who was not using a safety device, was taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.
