Two injured in Saline crash
Two people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 8:37 p.m. Sunday in Saline County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Chloe M. Kirn, 21, of Grain Valley, was driving east on Interstate 70 at the 71.2 mile marker when her vehicle overtook and struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle driven by Daniel R. Embaye, 32, of St. Joseph.
Embaye and a passenger in his vehicle, Ablel T. Bayru, 31, of Columbia, were both taken by Sweet Springs Ambulance District to I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs for their injuries.
Reports indicate all three occupants were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Two seriously injured in wreck
Two people sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 7:36 a.m. Monday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Melissa J. Keller, 38, of Leeton, was driving west in the eastbound lane on state Route 2, 300 fee west of SW 171 Road, as Keith A. Shonkwiler, 68, of Clinton, was driving east in the eastbound lane.
Shonkwiler applied his brakes, causing his vehicle to slide and travel into the westbound lane. Keller also applied her brakes, which caused her vehicle to also slide and travel into the westbound lane.
The front of Keller’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Shonkwiler’s vehicle.
Keller, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for her injuries.
Shonkwiler, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Staff for Life air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.
Two injured in Henry accident
Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8:09 a.m. Monday in Henry County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Curtis M. Edwards, 46, of Warsaw, was driving west on state Route 52, just north of Bridge H0171, when he swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle. Edwards overcorrected and his vehicle traveled off the south side of the road, coming to rest in the ditch.
Edwards and a passenger in his vehicle, Jacob D. Conrad, 22, of Clinton, were both taken to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Reports indicate both Conrad and Edwards were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Versailles man hurt in wreck
A Versailles man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 1:55 p.m. Sunday in Morgan County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Brison K. Blair, 42, was driving east on Webb Road, four-tenths of a mile west of state Route J, when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a fence and a tree, then caught on fire.
Blair was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach for his injuries.
It is unknown if Blair was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
