Three hurt in Johnson wreck

Three people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:55 a.m. Thursday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Deni R. Vaught, 22, of Oak Grove, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50 at NW 1201 Road, when her vehicle slid off the right side of the road. The vehicle then struck a fence and overturned, coming to rest on its top.

Vaught and a passenger in her vehicle, Jessica L. Eddy, 22, of St. Louis, were both taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with moderate injuries.

Another passenger, Doris J. Wastek, 37, of Mayview, was taken by private vehicle to Western Missouri Medical Center with minor injuries.

Reports indicate Wastek was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, but Eddy and Vaught were not.

Lincoln woman injured in Pettis

A Lincoln woman sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 2:18 p.m. Thursday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, David W. Carson, 73, of Mora, was driving south on U.S. Highway 65, north of state Route V, when he slowed to turn east. Another southbound vehicle driven by Darci D. Burroughs, 29, failed to slow down and struck the rear of Carson’s vehicle.

Burroughs was taken by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia for her injuries.

Reports indicate Burroughs, Carson and his passenger were all wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Clinton man seriously injured

A Clinton man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 5:50 p.m. Thursday in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Guido C. Santero, 80, was driving east on state Route 7, about 600 feet west of NE 681 Road, when he suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.

Santero, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Life Flight Eagle Air Ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital for his injuries.

Woman injured in Johnson

A Clinton woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:45 a.m. Friday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Nora C. Jones, 52, of Centerview, was driving south on U.S. Highway 50 at NW 871 Road when she crossed into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Jane S. Shortino, 53. Shortino’s vehicle then overtook and struck Jones’ vehicle.

Shortino was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg with minor injuries.

Reports indicate both Shortino and Jones were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
