A Sedalia man was arrested on drug distribution charges after a search warrant was served Thursday morning.
According to a Sedalia Police Department STING Unit news release, at 6:35 a.m. SPD officers and members of the Drug Enforcement Unit served a drug-related search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of East Pettis Street. Upon arrival, the residence was forced open and two residents were found, who were detained for the investigation.
A search of the residence revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, drug packaging materials and drug paraphernalia. One subject was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges. The other resident was released at the scene without charges.
Richard Dean Shepherd, 39, of the residence, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.
Shepherd is at the Pettis County Jail on a $100,000 bond, cash or surety. Information regarding an arraignment or hearing was not available at press time.
