March 1 Crash Reports

Three hurt in Johnson wreck

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident at 3:06 p.m. Sunday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, James T. Register, 21, of Concordia, was driving south on state Route 13 as he slowed to turn onto state Route E. Another southbound vehicle driven by Morgan M. Wheeler, 20, of Sedalia, came to a stop behind his vehicle. A third southbound vehicle driven by Everett W. Stogner, 50, of Warrensburg, began to skid as it approached the rear of Wheeler’s vehicle and struck her vehicle, causing it to strike Register’s vehicle.

Register’s vehicle began to spin and came to rest in the northbound lane. Wheeler’s vehicle and Stogner’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and came to rest.

A passenger in Register’s vehicle, Alexandra S. Donnell, 14, of Concordia, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with minor injuries.

Wheeler was taken by JCAD to Centerpoint with serious injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, Brittany M. Martin, 22, of Knob Noster, was also taken by JCAD to Centerpoint with moderate injuries.

Reports indicate Register, Stogner and Donnell were all wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, but Wheeler was not. It is unknown if Martin was wearing a seat belt.

Howard, 52, was driving north on state Route Y, three-tenths of a mile south of Bethel School Road, when his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road and began skidding. Howard was partially ejected as the vehicle overturned and collided with a ditch.

Howard was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. by Moniteau County Coroner Lloyd Fulks.
