La Monte man arrested for DWI

A La Monte man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 11 p.m. Sunday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Bryan M. Opfer, 22, was driving south on Oak Point Road, just north of Brashears Road, when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Opfer was taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, McKinzie P. Lemon, 17, of La Monte, was taken by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Another passenger, Brandon M. Opfer, 21, of La Monte, was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Reports indicate none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Bryan Opfer was also arrested on a charge of failure to drive on the right half of the road.

Sedalia man seriously injured in crash

A Sedalia man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:53 p.m. Sunday in Morgan County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Don A. Cable, 69, was driving north on state Route W at Marvin Cutoff when his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road, overturned and ejected Cable.

Cable, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia for his injuries.
