Ferne Crouch will celebrate her 100th birthday with a celebration with family and friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at Parkview Christian Church Family Center, 1405 E. 16th St.
Loral Ferne Crouch was born March 28, 1916, in Okean, Arkansas, the youngest of 10 children born to Samuel William Martin and Letha Almeda Sweckard Martin.
When Ferne was 5 years old, her family moved to Smithton, where she grew up and attended Smithton School. Ferne married Coye Crouch on Oct. 30, 1934, in Columbia, and they made their home in Sedalia until Coye’s death in 1980.
Ferne retired from JA Lamy Manufacturing Co., and in the past had enjoyed ceramics, crafts, remodeling her home and was famous for her casseroles and pies.
Ferne has three children, Larry Crouch (Eddie), of Sedalia, and the late Lanny Crouch and Sandra Shipley; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to the celebration; no gifts please.
