Southbound lanes of U.S. 65 closed due to accident

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident around 4 p.m. Friday, causing one vehicle to roll over on north U.S. Highway 65 near state Route HH. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol both vehicles were traveling north on U.S. Highway 65 when one vehicle traveled into the other, causing it to roll. Faith Bemiss | Democrat


The two occupants of the roll over vehicle were life-flighted to University Hospital in Columbia. The occupants of the other vehicle were transported by ambulance. Faith Bemiss | Democrat


Members of the Pettis County Fire Protection District work to “de-energize” the roll over vehicle. PCFPD said the vehicle was leaking gas and asked for people to move away. Faith Bemiss | Democrat

Drivers were asked to avoid the area of U.S. Highway 65 at state Routes H/HH shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, as the southbound lanes were closed due to a vehicle accident. The lanes reopened around 5:30 p.m.

The two occupants of the roll-over vehicle were taken by Life Flight to University Hospital in Columbia. The occupants of the other vehicle were transported by Pettis County Ambulance District to an unknown hospital.
