U.S. Health and Human Services Acting Administrator Jim Macrae announced Tuesday, Aug. 25 that Katy Trail Community Health Center was awarded $ 157,412 in recognition of the health center’s achievements in providing high quality, comprehensive care.
“Today’s funding rewards those health centers that are achieving the highest levels of clinical quality performance and improvement,” said HRSA Acting Administrator Jim Macrae.
Katy Trail Community Health is one of 1,153 recipients of the awards and one of 23 health centers in Missouri. Katy Trail Community Health received the highest award in Missouri for the second year in a row. Katy Trail Community is also one of 139 health centers in the country to receive the Value Award and one of two in Missouri. The Value Award is based on efficiency — increasing quality of care and improving access to compressive services while improving cost effectiveness.
“We are very pleased to have received this award recognizing our efforts to provide quality care at Katy Trail Community Health,” said Chris Stewart, CEO. “Katy Trail Community Health uses a Patient Centered Medical Home model which is based on providing high quality care efficiently and receiving these awards proves the patient centered medical home model is working.”
Stewart said the funds reward the health centers’ proven track record of quality improvement and high levels of quality performance in one or more of four categories, which include health center quality leaders, national quality leaders, clinical quality improvers and electronic health record reporters.
These markers identified health centers that achieved the best overall clinical outcomes, exceeded national clinical benchmarks for care, demonstrated at least a 10-percent improvement in clinical quality measures, and used EHRs to report clinical quality measure data on all patients.
“Health centers play a key role in chronic disease management and preventive care, which promotes higher quality health care nationwide,” Stewart said. “Our staff has done an amazing job to demonstrate what role Katy Trail Community Health Center plays in the health of our nation.”
