April 30-May 1 Police Reports


This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 28

11:13 a.m.: Helen M. Semande, 18, of the 300 block of East Seventh Street, was issued a municipal court summons in the 600 block of North Ohio Avenue for shoplifting. An officer responded to a business for a report of shoplifting. The officer observed a female walk out of the store with a large bag and the employee who called SPD identified the woman. The suspect confessed to taking $36.90 worth of merchandise.

10:26 p.m.: Raymond Casillas Jr., 26, of the 1000 block of East 15th Street, was arrested near the intersection of South Limit Avenue and West 32nd Street on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

April 29

2:10 a.m.: Tiffany Suzanne Epp, 40, of the 200 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested at her residence on a charge of failure to obey. Officers responded to the residence for a verbal disturbance report. They made contact with the suspect at the back door and a search through SPD communications revealed she had a Sedalia failure to appear warrant. The officer began putting the suspect in handcuffs and she began actively resisting.

Incidents

April 28

10 a.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported near the intersection of East 10th Street and South Engineer Avenue.

4:13 p.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Kentucky Avenue.

April 29

2 a.m.: An officer spoke with a victim at Bothwell Regional Health Center. The female victim reported she was assaulted at her residence in the 400 block of Buckner Court. A suspect entered her residence unlawfully and pushed the victim while she tried to remove the suspect from her home. The victim reported she had lower back pain from being pushed.

Arrests

April 26

3:34 a.m.: Ryan L. Hefley, of Sedalia, was arrested near the intersection of Harding Avenue and U.S. Highway 50 in Sedalia on charges of driving with a revoked/suspended license and possession of marijuana. Sedalia Police Department officers and the SPD K-9 Unit assisted Pettis County deputies.

April 29

1:40 a.m.: Joshua Thomas was arrested in the 27000 block of Griessen road on charges of resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

April 29

9:58 a.m.: Maurice C. Ross, 44, of Topeka, Kansas, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.
