This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

May 18

7:06 p.m.: Jaelyn Lawler, 18, of the 1500 block of West Broadway Boulevard, was arrested in the 300 block of East Seventh Street on charges of first degree burglary and second degree assault. Officers responded to an assault with injuries. Investigation revealed the suspect reportedly forced his way into the victim’s residence and assaulted the victim. The victim was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment and evaluation and the suspect was later arrested.

10:48 p.m.: Kyle Nichols Richards, 31, of the 1100 block of South Harding Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of South Limit Avenue and Liberty Park Boulevard on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

Incidents

May 18

8:04 a.m.: A vulgar word was reported spray-painted on a garage door in the 600 block of West Broadway Boulevard.

10:19 a.m.: Blue spray paint was reported along the passenger side of a 2015 Chevy Silverado in the 1400 block of East 12th Street.

3:28 p.m.: An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed traveling northbound on North Emmet Avenue from East Saline Street. The officer got behind the suspect vehicle and activated his emergency lights and siren. The suspect vehicle then accelerated and failed to stop at a stop sign at North Emmet and East Boonville Road. The suspect continued north on Emmet, then turned down several different roads. The pursuit was terminated at Griessen Road and North Heard Avenue. The vehicle was later reported as a stolen vehicle and was recovered in Pettis County.

3:36 p.m.: A wallet containing a debit card, ID card, Social Security card, Medicare card and a Kohl’s credit card was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of West Third Street.

3:49 p.m.: A vehicle was reported stolen from the backyard of a residence in the 1600 block of South Osage Avenue.

6:16 p.m.: A front porch in the 1500 block of East 11th Street was reported vandalized with spray paint and silly string.

9:49 p.m.: Blue spray paint was reported on a 2011 Crown Victoria in the 1300 block of East 11th Street. It will cost an estimated $25 to repair.

Arrests

May 18

1:32 p.m.: Michael Dixon, of Sedalia, was arrested in the 300 block of South Lamine Avenue in Sedalia on charges of property damage and resisting arrest.

Missouri State Highway Patrol

Arrests

May 18

7:15 p.m.: D’Rae L. Marcum, 17, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of second degree assault and three counts of first degree child endangerment.

11:58 p.m.: Dominic R. Jones, 22, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving.
