This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

May 20

5:10 p.m.: Cathy M. Perez, 31, of Gravois Mills, was issued a municipal court summons in the 4300 block of Wisconsin Drive for shoplifting. An employee at a business in the 4300 block of Wisconsin Drive observed two females go through the store selecting clothing items. They went into a changing room and exited the room without any merchandise. The females were contacted by the employee and both had clothing in their purse. A total of $143.94 worth of merchandise was stolen. The other female subject was a juvenile and was taken into custody and transported to the police station.

8:12 p.m.: Kent L. Cline, 24, of the 400 block of West Fourth Street, was arrested near the intersection of Winchester Drive and West 12th Street on a charge of driving with a revoked license.

10:17 p.m.: Rishaud T. Staten, 18, of the 300 block of McAnally Court, was arrested near the intersection of Winchester Drive and West 12th Street on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a concealable weapon. During a multi-jurisdictional DWI sobriety checkpoint in the area, an officer spoke with occupants of a vehicle. Investigation revealed one subject was in possession of an illegally concealed weapon.

11:13 p.m.: Nicki Jean Olvera, 62, of Higginsville, was arrested in the 3000 block of South Limit Avenue on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

May 21

12:47 a.m.: Cosa W. Hoskins, 26, of Marshall, was issued a municipal court summons near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Sneed Avenue for possession of marijuana. A traffic stop was conducted for a minor violation. The officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a search revealed marijuana in the vehicle.

3:35 a.m.: Jimmie Don Curry, 36,of the 400 block of East 27th Street, was arrested near the intersection of East 19th Street and South Lamine Avenue on a charge of driving while intoxicated. A traffic stop was conducted for a minor violation. Upon contact with the subject, the officer could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The subject attempted a field sobriety test but did poorly. The subject was arrested and taken to the police station where he later provided a breath sample, which showed his BAC (blood alcohol content) at 0.164.

7:56 p.m.: Kelley G. Rohr, 38, of the 1700 block of South Grand Avenue, was issued a municipal court summons in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for stealing. The subject allegedly failed to scan various items as she went through the self-checkout line and then attempted to leave the store without paying for those items.

May 22

11:37 a.m.: Barry Carle Rivera, 18, of the 900 block of East 13th Street, was arrested near the intersection of East Fifth Street and South Washington Avenue on charges of driving while intoxicated/impaired and possession of marijuana. Officers responded to a vehicle accident where a truck traveled into the back of a car. Investigation revealed the car was illegally parked at the curb. The investigation also led to finding marijuana in the truck and that the driver had recently smoked marijuana.

6:45 p.m.: Vance E. Slater, 30, of the 1200 block of South Lamine Avenue, was arrested in the 100 block of West Broadway Boulevard on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to a report of a male subject sitting in the caller’s vehicle and refusing to get out.

Incidents

May 19

4:35 p.m.: A vehicle was reported spray-painted in the 1300 block of East Ninth Street during the night.

May 20

12:39 p.m.: A male subject reported he was assaulted in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard and that his 2012 red Ford Focus with Missouri license plate DL5V6S was stolen. The victim reported he was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown male subject and the car was taken in the act of the robbery. The vehicle has not been recovered. The victim was treated for injuries and released from Bothwell Regional Health Center.

7:03 p.m.: A vehicle reportedly had red spray paint along the side in the 1300 block of East Ninth Street.

May 21

8:40 p.m.: A suspect reportedly hit a victim in the face in the 600 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The reporting officer observed bruising on the victim’s lip. The officer was unable to locate the suspect.

8:46 p.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported in the 1300 block of South Stewart Avenue. A 2001 Chevrolet truck that was parked in front of a residence was damaged.

10:13 p.m.: A subject reportedly kicked in the door of an apartment in the 600 block of South Washington Avenue and stole a television, valued at $548.

Arrests

May 16

10:59 p.m.: Elizabeth M. Jones, of Sedalia, was issued a court summons for possession of marijuana near the intersection of 16th Street and Hancock Avenue in Sedalia. A traffic stop was conducted and deputies located a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

May 21

11:20 p.m.: Stanly Aisek, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested near the intersection of 10th Street and Thompson Avenue in Sedalia on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

May 21

12:30 a.m.: John C. Barnes, 27, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

3:31 a.m.: Kristal L. Clemens, 33, of Winterset, Iowa, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right side of the road.

11:31 a.m.: Miguel Carlos, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, stop sign violation and no seat belt.

12:05 p.m.: Brittany N. Swearingin, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

10:01 p.m.: Winston E. Harrison, 79, of Columbia, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of resisting arrest.

11:15 p.m.: Gary P. Wellner, 49, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, speeding and no seat belt.

11:15 p.m.: Travis D. Elliott, 29, of Holden, was arrested in Henry County on charges of driving while intoxicated and no insurance.

May 22

12:45 a.m.: Steven T. Simmers, 26, of Hartsburg, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and no insurance.

1:53 a.m.: Matthew L. Williams, 30, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.
