This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 24

8:54 p.m.: John D. Cardwell, 40, of the 2900 block of South Marshall Avenue, was arrested in the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard on charges of distributing a controlled substance, two counts of possession of synthetic narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jonathan D. Buri, 30, of the 24000 block of state Route D, was arrested on a charge of possession of synthetic narcotics.

Officers stopped a vehicle for not using a turn signal and driving on the wrong side of the road. Officers eventually searched the vehicle and found the driver and passenger to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail. One subject was released without charges.

Officers later located the other subjects residence and obtained consent to search it. They located evidence of methamphetamine sales. He was taken to the jail on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of charges.

Jan. 27

6:51 p.m.: Erich Alan McEwen, 44, of the 1300 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of East 14th Street and South Ohio Avenue on charges of resisting arrest and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. An officer attempted to stop McEwen’s motorcycle near the intersection of 13th Street and Ohio Avenue and the motorcycle fled from the area. After a short pursuit of the motorcycle and the suspect on foot, he was taken into custody. He was taken to the jail and released pending the filing of charges.
