This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.
Sedalia Police Department
6:58 p.m.: Robert Eugene Crum Jr., 48, of the 400 block of North Engineer Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of East Fifth Street and South Lafayette Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
8:51 p.m.: Vitaliy Surguy, 28, of the 1600 block of McVey Road, was arrested near the intersection of East Seventh Street and South Lamine Avenue on charges of distributing marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection for no license plate light and the front license plate was not attached to the vehicle. When the officer activated his emergency lights, he saw the suspect reaching around in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in marijuana packaged for sale. The suspect was taken to the Pettis County Jail and put on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of charges.
9:27 p.m.: Gary Lee Barnett Jr., 40, of Sweet Springs, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard on a charge of trespassing. An employee recognized him at a business as someone who was not allowed in the store.
11:43 a.m.: While in a business drive thru in the 800 block of South Limit Avenue, a suspect approached a victim’s vehicle. The victim said the suspect displayed a knife and threatened to kill him.
3:18 p.m.: A prescription bottle of Alprazolam was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle in the 900 block of South Kentucky Avenue.
5:34 a.m.: The passenger window of a vehicle was reported broken in the 1700 block of West Fourth Street. A purse containing numerous credit cards and a digital camera was reported stolen from the vehicle. Total amount of items stolen and property damage is estimated at $1,050.
10:19 a.m.: $4,000 worth of electronics were reported stolen from a residence in the 600 block of East Ninth Street. Officers found no signs of forced entry.
Missouri State Highway Patrol
12:27 a.m.: Brian C. Jefferson, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested in Johnson County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
