March 1 Police Reports


This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 26

8:30 a.m.: Diane R. Downs, 46, no address given, was arrested in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue on charges of stealing, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

A shoplifter had reportedly taken alcohol from a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue and left the store. The suspect was found on the south side of the 1500 block of South Limit Avenue. When asked by the officer about the theft, the female suspect said she didn’t know what the officer was talking about, but then pulled a 750mL bottle of vodka out of her pants. She was then asked if there was anything else in her purse that wasn’t her’s and she shrugged. Officers found an eyeglass case containing a straw and two baggies.

8:04 p.m.: Ashley Ann Paris, 26, of the 900 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard on a charge of stealing. Timothy S. LeMaire, 26, of the 3800 block of Southgate Drive, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.

Two subjects reportedly left a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard without paying for items concealed in a purse. Officers later found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The female subject admitted to stealing the items, saying no one else knew she had done it. The male subject was found to have previously trespassed at the business.

Feb. 27

1:10 a.m.: Maria L. Romero, 27, of the 400 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and State Fair Boulevard on charges of driving while intoxicated, operator’s license required, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and careless and imprudent driving.

An officer noticed a vehicle traveling in front of him drive up and over the curb on the right side of the road. The suspect vehicle continued traveling on the shoulder. Once the officer activated his emergency lights, the suspect vehicle gained speed for a short time, then after passing slowed down to about 20 mph. The truck finally stopped at a red light at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Thompson Boulevard, where the officer was able to make contact with the suspect.

Feb. 28

10:34 p.m.: Angela Ruth Asbury, 40, of the 400 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested at her residence on a charge of third degree domestic assault. The victim and witnesses reported the suspect had slapped, pushed and made verbal threats to the victim.

Incidents

Feb. 29

11:55 a.m.: An unknown subject reportedly cut about $15,000 worth of copper wire from a duplex residence being built in the 2400 block of Acker Drive.

2 p.m.: An unknown subject reportedly damaged the concrete surrounding a man hole cover near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and Harding Avenue, causing about $2,000 in damage to city property.

Arrests

Feb. 27

7:30 a.m.: Dail D. Humphrey, 51, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of driving with a revoked license and no insurance.

Feb. 28

1:52 a.m.: Jordan L. Oerly, 18, of Russellville, was arrested in Moniteau County on a charge of minor visibly intoxicated.

Feb. 29

10:50 a.m.: Matthew E. Kappele, 47, of Cleveland, Ohio, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
