Nicole Cooke | Democrat Austin Alexander, David Wester, Zel White and Chris Caballero, all part of the Team SCREAM engineering and design team, use 3D CAD software to design gear boxes during camp Wednesday afternoon. Teacher Michael Wright said the veteran team members are learning how to use the software so they can train younger students during next year's build season. “They're dedicated members to spend a week out of their summer to do this,” Wright said.

Nicole Cooke | Democrat Junior Spencer Hanes gets some assistance from teacher Michael Wright as he uses 3D CAD software to design a gear box. “They’re designing their first gear box from scratch,” Wright said. “We’ve purchased them before, but having a more custom box is better because we have the ability to design a more custom robot.” Later this week the students will create their designs in the engineering shop.

Nicole Cooke | Democrat Junior Levi Anderson, Team SCREAM’s new head programmer, works to program various parts of the robot. “The designers make the robot and I put the logic behind how the robot works,” Anderson said. “I work with how the robot carries out operations.”
