Band Director Britt Faaborg plays for Sedalia Middle School's “Show Stoppers,” as they sing “Get on Board in the Mornin'.” Faaborg was the choir director for the “Show Stoppers” until his retirement this year. Also honored during the event was Helen Coffelt, who had been the band's president for 23 years. Coffelt plays B-flat clarinet with the band, cello for the Sedalia Symphony and has been a music educator for 35 years.

Nadine Fingland, an alto saxophonist with the band, was recognized for her 90th birthday during Thursday’s performance. During a break in performances band member Liz Rooks also presented two $2,000 music scholarships from the Concert Band to local college freshmen Grant Waters and Anna Drexler. The Band’s last performance for the year will be Sept. 4 at the Cole Camp Fair.
