The truck was acquired by the fair in the early 1980s when it was surplus property of the state of Missouri. The “eye-catching, very historic piece” will be on display outside the station throughout the fair, and will be in the opening day parade.

Nicole Cooke | Democrat When the West Central Missouri Auto Club received the fire truck this spring, President Floyd Hatfield said it didn’t work at all, but now it can be driven and even the siren is in working order. Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe tested the siren while he was in the front seat.
