Nicole Cooke | Democrat Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe sits proudly in the front seat of a newly restored 1929 Ford Model A Fire Truck surrounded by members of the West Central Missouri Auto Club outside the Missouri State Fair Fire Department on Wednesday. “We look for projects in the community and we thought it was a good opportunity to refurbish it and do something for the fairgrounds,” said Floyd Hatfield, front right, president of WCMAC. The truck was acquired by the fair in the early 1980s when it was surplus property of the state of Missouri. The “eye-catching, very historic piece” will be on display outside the station throughout the fair, and will be in the opening day parade.
