Smith-Cotton defensive back Josh Hartman breaks up a pass to a Skyline High receiver during Friday’s scrimmage at Jennie Jaynes Stadium. S-C, Skyline and Northwest took part in 7-on-7, 11-on-11 and lineman challenge drills as the teams prepare for the upcoming football season. After the workout, the Smith-Cotton Football Booster Club treated the players to watermelon and other fresh fruit.

Head Football Coach Ryan Boyer addresses his team after Friday morning’s scrimmage at Jennie Jaynes Stadium. Boyer said, “We got out of this what we wanted to get out of it, which was seeing a couple of other teams instead of just seeing ourselves, and letting the kids get to hit a little bit.The big thing that we stressed was to get better today. … It went really well.”

Defensive linemen L.J. Marsh, left, and John Carney, center, get a laugh out of Ryan Lefevers’ indication that he is playing the strong side of the formation.
