The State Fair Community College women’s basketball team beat Moberly Area 68-56 Saturday to move into sole possession of first place in Region 16.
The Lady Roadrunners (16-8 overall, 7-1 Region 16) hold a one-game lead over Moberly Area, which fell to 21-5 overall and 6-2 in the region.
SFCC held a 31-30 lead at halftime before pulling way in the second half.
Alecia Cooley paced the Lady Roadrunners with 21 points and seven blocked shots. She added seven rebounds.
Mary Sims had a team-high eight rebounds and shared team-high honors with Antoinette Taylor with six assists. Sims scored 18 points.
Taylor finished with 13 points and four rebounds.
SFCC has only two regional games remaining: Wednesday at Jefferson and Saturday at home against Mineral Area.
Moberly Area finishes up at Crowder on Wednesday and will host Jefferson on Saturday.
