Five members of the Sedalia Travelers helped the East capture the Zone 2 All-Star game, beating the West 2-1. The East team was comprised of the Travelers as well as players from Fike, the Independence Bears and the Rod’s Sports A’s facing the West team with players from the Lee’s Summit Outlaws, Lee’s Summit Pirates, Post 21 and St. Joseph Post 11.

The East scored two runs in top of fifth with Ian Dotson driving in the second run with a single to the right side. He went 1-3.

Cortlen Austin 0 for 1.

Austin Bullerd pitched the first two innings for the East and came back in to work the ninth. He struck out two and allowed no runs. He earned the save and took home game MVP honors

Taylor Schubert pitched the fourth inning and allowed no runs, striking out one. With the winning run scoring in the top of the fifth, he earned the win.

Matt Miles was 1 for 1 with a single to left and pitched the eighth inning, striking out three.

The Travelers open the Zone Tournament tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Liberty Park against the winner of today’s game between Fike and the Pirates.
