The Sedalia Travelers won the Zone 2 East tournament championship.
The Travelers beat the Blue Springs A’s 6-4 and 10-3 on Sunday.
Austin Weinberg pitched seven innings in the second game, holding the A’s scoreless through five before they finally broke through. In the meantime, the Travelers jumped ahead with a run in the first, then added two in the third and two in the fourth. They broke the game open with a four-run seventh.
Chance McMullin and Cortlen Austin each had three hits in the game. Ian Dotson drove in three runs.
Truman Leicher pitched the final two innings in relief.
In the first game on Sunday, the Travelers took a 3-2 lead with a run in the fourth and added three more in the top of the seventh before the A’s answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.
Austin had three hits in the game.
Austin Bullerd pitched a complete game, striking out four and holding the A’s to six hits.
The Travelers opened the tournament Friday with a 7-4 loss to Fike before rebounding to beat the hosts 18-1 on Saturday. The Travelers scored seven in the third and seven more in the fourth in that game as Matt Miles had four hits and drove in four runs. Dom Zerilli and Austin each had three RBI.
Miles also struck out six in five innings on the mound.
The Travelers host the zone tournament. They will face either Fike or the Pirates at 1 p.m. Friday at Dey Field at Liberty Park.
