The Smith-Cotton girls soccer team opened the Kickapoo Tournament with a 4-2 win over the host Lady Chiefs on Friday.

Jessica Coble opened the scoring with a goal mid-way through the first half and Brianna Pollitt added to the lead just before halftime.

Kickapoo scored twice early in the second half to equalize before Coble scored in the 65th minute to put Smith-Cotton ahead and Jill Vansell added an insurance goal in the 72nd.

Kickapoo managed 15 shots against the Smith-Cotton defense.

“They put some decent pressure on us,” said coach Adam Murray.

Smith-Cotton (6-1) will continue the Kickapoo Tournament against Rockwood Summit at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
