Three area dirt track drivers won feature events this past weekend.


Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell picked up his eighth victory of the season at Double-X Speedway in the Winged Sprint Cars feature. TJ Muths, of Sedalia, took ninth place in the Sprint Car race. La Monte’s Matt Close finished 13th.


Also at Double-X Speedway, Syracuse’s Gage Wineland took first place in Hobby Stocks.


Many area drivers finished right behind Wineland including Eddie Lavery III, of Tipton, Will Register, of Sedalia, and Mike Schrader, of Sedalia.


Sedalia’s Kevin Prall and Katie Goodson finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the Hobby Stocks feature race at Double-X. Tipton’s Bryan Alumbaugh took 12th.


Knob Noster’s Troy Turley won his first race of the season in the Street Stock feature at Central Missouri Speedway. Sedalia’s Kevin Perkins and Donnie Tanner finished seventh and 12th, respectively, in Street Stocks.


Sedalia’s Terry Schultz continues to lead the USRA Modified points standings after finishing second at CMS on Saturday. Schultz is also second in the national USRA Modified points standings.


Sedalia’s Steve Twenter and Christopher Moon took 9th and 15th, respectively, in Saturday’s USRA Modified feature at CMS.


La Monte’s Cody Frazon finished fourth in the B-Modified feature at CMS. Sedalia’s Richard Brainard took seventh in the same event.


At Double-X, Tipton’s Harlan Dowell finished eighth in Street Stocks.


Area drivers were also in action at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland. Sedalia’s Bob Cummings took 13th in the ULMA Late Models feature race. Nathan Vaught, of Lincoln, finished ninth in the USRA Modified event.


Sunday will be the final event of the season at Double-X. Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Winged Sprint Cars and 600cc Winged Micro Sprints will all take the track. Hot laps start at 7 p.m. with racing beginning at 7:30 p.m.


CMS will host Kid’s Night on Saturday with hot laps starting at 7 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. Kids 12 and under will compete in foot races for prizes. They will each receive a goodie bag, and a free drink and hot dog.


Mid-America Lightning Sprints will be the guest class along with the usual USRA Modified, B-Modified, Street Stock and Pure Stock.


Lucas Oil Speedway will have Monster Trucks, Tuff Trucks and FMS Stunt Riders at 7 p.m. Saturday.
