The Sedalia Bombers extended their MINK League South Division lead to two and a half games with an 8-1 win Tuesday at second place Joplin.
The Bombers are 4-0 versus Joplin this season and face them three more times.
Cole Bartlett pitched 3 2-3 innings of perfect baseball before allowing a single. He completed six innings, allowing one run on three hits.
Dan Chambliss, Tony Forcelledo and Dalton Christian combined to pitch three scoreless innings.
The Bombers got out on top early with two runs in the first inning. Trey Hair singled, stole second base, advanced to third on Hunter Leeper’s single and scored when Jonathan Ramon reached on an error.
Leeper ended up scoring on Tony Sandifer’s single.
In the fourth inning, the Bombers loaded the bases with no outs, but scored once. Aaron Meyer’s sacrifice fly scored Sandifer, but Sedalia stranded two runners in scoring position.
Sedalia added two more in the fifth inning. Sandifer sacrificed Leeper across the plate and Jess Cartner singled in Ramon.
The Outlaws used two singles and an error to score their lone run in the sixth inning.
The Bombers went up 8-1 with three runs in the eighth inning. Hair scored when Alex Bee was walked, and Sandifer singled in Leeper and Ramon.
Leeper had three hits and five Bombers recorded two hits.
The Bombers are off today before facing the Clarinda A’s on the road at 7 p.m. Thursday.
