Man injured in crash charged with DWI

A Leeton man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson County and subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Thomas M. Meloy, 51, was driving east on U.S. Highway 50 near the exit ramp to state Route 13 when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off the right side of the road where it struck a yield sign and overturned, ejecting the driver, according to a Missouri Statee Highway Patrol report.

Meloy was taken to Research Medical Center with serious injuries. He was arrested at the hospital at 9:28 p.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated, failing to drive on the right side of the road resulting in a crash and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
