Sedalia Visual Art Association recently formed a committee to refurbish the artist in residence room in the Fine Arts Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The room is used by the artists in residence during the fair. Committee members SVAA Secretary Madge Gressley, Treasurer Glenda Miller and member Shirley Horacek, along with Marcia Azan, Linda Hoover, Shelley Zimmerman and Alan Weaver have spent several days cleaning, painting the walls and obtaining curtains and furniture for the sleeping room that includes a bathroom. Many items were donated by members including a new box springs and mattress and two gallons of paint donated by Yvette Joyce, a braided area rug, mattress cover and dust ruffle donated by Marcia Azan, mini blinds and desk chair donated by Cindy Morris, curtain rod and hardware donated by Linda Rhoads, floor lamp and waste baskets donated by Shirley Horacek, bed linens donated by Shirley Gunderson, wall mirror donated by Shelley Zimmerman, clothes rack donated by Glenda Miller, and various pieces of art donated by Madge Gressley, Shirley Horacek, and Glenda Miller. The room will be occupied this year by Missouri State Fair Artist in Residence Janice Burgin, of Jefferson City.
