Two seriously hurt in Saline

Two Marshall residents suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:41 p.m. Friday in Saline County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jally L. Mull, 45, was driving north on U.S. Highway 65, 2 miles south of Marshall, when his vehicle lost control on the snow-covered road. It traveled off the left side of the road into the media. The vehicle then overturned, ejecting a passenger, Lazleen Eieta, 18.

Eieta and Mull were both taken by Saline County Ambulance District to University Hospital in Columbia for their injuries.

Reports indicate both occupants were not wearing a seat belt.

Sweet Springs man killed

A Sweet Springs man was killed in a single-vehicle accident at 8 a.m. Monday in Saline County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Russell A. Sims, 51, was driving north on state Route 127, south of 150th Road, when he experienced a medical issue that caused the vehicle to travel off the left side of the road. It struck a fence and embankment before coming to rest.

Sims was pronounced dead at the scene via phone by Dr. P.B. Howerton of Bothwell Regional Health Center.

It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.

Teen hurt in Johnson crash

A Warrensburg teenager suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 11 a.m. Monday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ashlee J. Courville, 17, was driving south on state Route 13 at state Route HH while Richard G. Mejia, 35, of St. Louis, was stopped in southbound traffic waiting to turn onto Route HH. Courville’s vehicle struck the rear of Mejia’s semi-truck.

Courville was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for her injuries.

Reports indicate both drivers were wearing a seat belt.
