Local on mission to prevent child deaths from heat

As infants and small children continue to die from being left alone in hot cars, a Sedalia man has invented a cheap and easy to use device that will hopefully aid in reducing those fatalities.Jeff Howard has constructed a device composed of a clip and two adjustable mirrors that will allow parents to see car seats in the backseat, where a blind spot exists in the standard equipment rear-view mirror.“I came out and sat in the car and tried to find out what the problem was,” Howard said. “In a lot of cars, when the rear-view mirror was adjusted properly for driving, you can’t see the car seats in the back. So, I built this. You just clip it on and adjust the two mirrors and you can see the car seats on both sides.”
