Smith-Cotton tennis lost 3-6 Tuesday hosting Warrensburg.

In singles, David Cho defeated Max Manley 8-6, Jacob Hedrick defeated Jacob Rice 1-8, Mikhail Husyev defeated Aaron Beymer 3-8, Matthew Tilley defeated Matthew Hechler 3-8, Keron Irwin defeated Kaden Powers 4-8 and Ryan Hankins defeated Sungwon Cho 6-8.

S-C coach Rush Walters said the loss is a learning experience.

“There are some things that we can improve on, but we still played well,” Walters said. “I believe we have done well as team this season so far, and that we can take this loss as a learning experience. All we can do now is brush it off, practice hard, and strive to win our next match.”

In doubles, David Cho & Matthew Tilley defeated Max Manley & Jacob Rice 8-6. Jacob Hedrick & Mikhail Husyev defeated Aaron Beymer & Matthew Hechler 6-8 and Keron Irwin & Ryan Hankins defeated Kaden Powers & Sungwon Cho 8-6.

Needy, Pritzel shoot low scores at Triple Creek

Green Ridge Peyton Needy shot a 38 on Tuesday at Triple Creek Golf Course in Cole Camp against Cole Camp and Eugene. Alex Pritzel of Cole Camp shot a 36.

Gremlins top Father Tolton

Sacred Heart finished nine holes in Columbia with a team total of 173, outshooting Father Tolton’s 209 team score.

Chris Mergen was the low man for Sacred Heart, firing a 39 (+4) on the day. Chase Venn of Father Tolton also shot a 39.

Logan Sunnarborg and Will Prenger fired a 9-hole total of 44 and Jack Lucchesi finished two strokes behind.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Smithton 13, Prairie Home 3

Smithton baseball defeated Prairie Home on Monday 13-3 in six innings. Spencer Moore earned the win and Nate Walsh was 4-for-4 with a walk and 6 RBIs.

The Tigers Varsity scored five runs in the fourth and five runs in the sixth on a walk by Trevor Townlain, a three-run double by Nate Walsh, and a walk by Roman Boyko.

Otterville 5, La Monte 4

Otterville starter Jake Neal collected 15 strikeouts Monday in a 4-3 victory over La Monte.

The Tigers face Smithton on the road today at 4:30 p.m.
