The Sedalia Bombers jumped out to an early lead but could not hold it, falling 9-5 to the Clarinda A’s on Tuesday.
Trey Harris, Jordan Dey and Jonothan Ramon hit back-to-back-to-back singles to load the bases. After Harris scored on a Zach Lavy sacrifice fly, Hunter Leeper hit a three-run home run.
The A’s answered with runs in the second and third, then tied the game when Clayton Daniel drove in two runs with a single in the fourth.
Clarinda then took the lead in the sixth, scoring five runs. Two came in on a Ben Duerr double. Zack Belanger made it 7-4 with an RBI single and Mondesi Gutierrez added an RBI single to drive in Duerr.
The Bombers got a run back in the seventh when Harris drove in Jack Mercer but left a pair of runners stranded in that inning and went down in order in the eighth. The Bombers got a man on in the ninth when Stewart Nelson reached on a two-out error but a groundout quickly ended the inning.
Ryan Lee started and lasted four innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out three. James Ball came on in relief, allowing five runs off three hits in 1 2-3 innings.
The Bombers will visit the Ozark Generals on Wednesday.
