Gremlins golf finished runner-up Monday to St. Pius X at Sacred Heart Golf Classic at the Sedalia Country Club. The Gremlins placed second in a 17-team field and Chris Mergen finished first among the field with a 73.

Tyler Thompson of Smith-Cotton’s junior varsity, Alex Pritzel and Caleb Self of Cole Camp, Will Prenger, Mergen and Jack Lucchesi of Sacred Heart and Tipton’s Tristan Bolin and Brock Bookout were among the medalists.

Lincoln golf fourth at Father Tolton

Boone Kroenke finished second overall Monday with a 72 at the Father Tolton Invitational at the Columbia Country Club.

Lincoln finished 4th out of 13 teams shooting a 340.

Trevor Kroenke finished 6th overall shooting a 78.

La Plata won the tournament finishing with a team total of 318. Father Tolton took second shooting 328 and Marceline took third with a 331.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Lincoln 14, Green Ridge 2

The Lady Cardinals collected 12 hits in five innings Monday to defeat Green Ridge 14-2 on the road.

Sloan Swearngin struck out eight in five innings and had three hits and three RBIs. Shelbey Vandeveer also had three RBIs.

LATE FRIDAY RESULTS

Smithton 8, Tipton 4

Nate Walsh allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out five for Smithton in an 8-4 victory over Tipton on Friday.

Walsh also collected three hits and an RBI. Smithton broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning and scored four more runs in the sixth.
