Tipton takes Class 1, District 2 title

Tipton golf finished 24 strokes ahead of Iberia to claim the Class 1, District 2 tournament Monday at Redfield Golf and Country Club in Euguene.

Tipton’s Tristan Bolin shot a 73 (+1) to top the field. Brock Bookout tied for ninth place with a 97.

Alex Haag fired a 93 to finish eighth to qualify for sectionals. Also named All-District for Stover was Cameron Worthley and Chad Nolting.

Lincoln wins at Class 1, District 4 tourney

Lincoln’s Boone Kroenke and Green Ridge’s Peyton Needy tied for first individually with a pair of 75s as the Cardinals golf team won the Class 1 District 4 title Monday in Clinton.

Jack Daughtery tied for ninth and was named All-District for Windsor. Ben Moser placed 12th for the Greyhounds shooting a 92.

Trevor Kroenke finished third individually at five strokes behind the leaders. Tyler Kroenke shot an 83, finishing fifth.

Sacred Heart’s Will Prenger was one stroke behind Tyler in sixth place. Chris Mergen was 11th, firing a 91.

Summit Christian Academy 3, Sacred Heart 2

The Gremlins snapped an 8-game winning streak against Summit Christian Academy 3-2 Monday.

Sacred Heart’s baseball team had its 8-game winning streak snapped today in a 3-2 loss to Summit Christian (17-2, and ranked 6th in class 3).

Brenden Volcko threw six innings and had four strikeouts with four walks and a hit batter. He allowed three hits.

Volcko and Cal Racy had doubles for the Gremlins. Racy and Chance Spangler had the RBIs for Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart (13-5) plays at Lincoln at 5 p.m.

Smith-Cotton 10, Warrensburg 6

The S-C Tigers (23-4) survived a 6-unearned run fourth inning in Warrensburg in a 10-6 victory Monday.

Tyler Abney pitched the first four innings for Smith-Cotton, and was relieved by Chase Plymell.

Plymell was 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Gavin Jones went 3-for-4 at the place at scored three times.

Otterville 4, Stover 1

Caleb Phillips provided a game-ending outfield assist from centerfield in a 4-1 victory over Stover.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Smithton 19, Otterville 2

Smithton opened the Class 1, District 15 softball tournament with a 19-2 victory over Otterville.

Madison Brown struck out four in five innings for the Smithton Tigers.

Tristan Stauf had six RBIs and an inside-the-park home run. Magie Growthe had a double, three walks and three RBIs. Audrey Williams walked twice and doubled with one RBI.

The tournament resumes today at 4:30 in La Monte with Smithton facing Sacred Heart or Bunceton.

Northwest 13, Tipton 11

Northwest defeated Tipton in the Class 1, District 15 softball tournament and face La Monte today at 6 p.m.

Lincoln 10, Kingsville 0

Sloan Swearngin struck out 10 on the mound and collected three hits at the plate Monday in a 10-0 victory Lincoln over Kingsville.

Swearngin and Aleah Paxton had two RBIs apiece. Lexi Beaman and Taylor Sanders had two hits each for Lincoln.

With the win, The Lady Cardinals advance in the Class 1, District 14 tournament to host Cole Camp today at 6:30 p.m.

Windsor 18, Archie 8

The Windsor Lady Greyhounds face Crest Ridge today at 5 p.m. in Lincoln after an 18-8 victory over Archie in the first round of the Class 1, District 14 softball tournament.

Cole Camp 16, Green Ridge 6

The Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds battle Lincoln today at 6:30 p.m. in Lincoln after an 16-6 victory against Green Ridge in the first round of the Class 1, District 14 softball tournament.
