The Post 462 Sedalia Travelers Senior Legion Baseball team picked up three wins in two days after a doubleheader sweep Wednesday and a victory in the Mid-America Premier Championship in Springfield, Missouri on Thursday.
Sedalia shutout the Mid West A’s behind five two-hit innings from Chase Plymell on the mound. Gavin Jones hit a two-run homer, Jake Kindle had an RBI double and Baxter Mays drove in two in the tournament-opening victory.
Pool play continues for Sedalia in the Springfield area at 8:30 a.m. at U.S. Ballpark against the KCI Expos. The Travelers are scheduled to face 417 Hunsaker at Drury University at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The tournament follows a Post 462 doubleheader sweep of the Lee’s Summit Outlaws on Wednesday. Sedalia won game one 6-0, and game two 11-5.
Steven Bradbury led the offense Wednesday going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a stolen base. Gehrig Taylor allowed two hits in a complete-game shutout, striking out three.
Game two was won after the Travelers plated six runs in the first two innings of an 11-5 victory. Jones drove in four runs on three hits, while Mays and Bradbury also enjoyed multi-hit games. The Travelers scored in every inning but two behind four innings from starter Kaleb Bishop and three innings from Kindle.
