Sedalia Junior Legion down early at Zone

A third-straight State tournament appearance is in jeopardy for Sedalia Rick Ball Ford after a 10-0 loss Thursday to the Blue Springs Elks at the Zone tournament in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Blue Springs rallied against starter Corbin Reese for six runs in the third inning, after Sedalia allowed three runs the inning prior. Rick Ball Ford committed three errors on the game.

Sedalia (31-12) managed two baserunners off Elks starter Nick Branduer, who struck out seven batters. Cash Miller singled in the second, and Alec Luyet drew a walk in the fifth.

The Elks picked up the tenth and deciding run in the sixth inning on an error allowing Travis Lawson to score an unearned run.

The tournament continues for Sedalia at 6 p.m. Friday in Warresnburg against Waverly.
