How many steaks can you buy with $15,000?

It is a question for Brian Brown, who claimed the prize after a win Sunday at the Missouri State Fair High Roller Classic at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia.

Before an ASCS Sprint feature victory in Sedalia, July 28, Brown said winning was the difference between his family eating steaks or McDonald’s. After charging ahead of the field — leading all 30 laps through four cautions, he is still working on an exact number to that question.

“I get Texas Roadhouse,” Brown said after the race. “So, I could get a bunch.”

Brown’s victory followed a ULMA Late Model feature won by Larry Ferris.

Ferris fought for first with Vance Wilson early, and, after Aaron Poe’s No. 45 car spun near turn three, built a lead he would not relinquish.

Chris Smyser moved into second place, where he would finish, after a second caution and restart. Wilson finished third, Bob Penny finished fourth and Poe rounded out the top five.

Josh Baughman, Wayne Johnson, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. and Danny Lasoski filled out the top five in the ASCS Sprints feature. Sedalia driver Jonathan Cornell moved up 17 spots to finish eighth.
