BOYS SOCCER

Stover 6, La Monte 1

The Bulldogs defeated La Monte on the road Thursday, 6-1 behind a Landon Thompson hat trick.

Charlie Black, Colton Johannes and Trey Dixon scored one goal apiece to remain undefeated (2-0) in conference play and advance to 7-2 overall.

Gavin Johnson scored the lone Vikings goal.

Stover hosts the Kaysinger Soccer Tournament beginning Monday, Sept. 28. The Bulldogs host La Monte again at 7 p.m. Monday to open pool play.

Kickapoo 2, Smith-Cotton 1

The Smith-Cotton boys soccer team lost 2-1 to Kickapoo in the first game of the Kickapoo tournament Thursday night in Springfield.

Jonathan Lopez had the lone goal for the Tigers, assisted by Jordan Lawson.

“We had the better of the play but ended up on the wrong side of the result,” said S-C Head Coach Ethan Weller. The Tigers are now 9-3-1.

LATE WEDNESDAY RESULTS

Cole Camp 2, Lone Jack 1

Nikolay Timoshchuk scored twice in a 2-1 Cole Camp victory over Lone Jack on Tuesday.

Lexi Shane assisted on the first of Timoshchuk goals, both of which were scored in the first half.

Zane Brown halved the deficit for Lone Jack in the second half.

Cole Camp goalkeeper Jarrett Finkiewicz recorded 18 saves in the victory.

GIRLS TENNIS

Smith-Cotton second at conference

The Lady Tigers of Smith-Cotton shot a team score of 406 to finished runner-up behind Warrensburg at the West Central Conference tournament at Hidden Pines Country Club in Warrensburg.

Warrensburg finished with 357 and its No. 1 golfer, Taylor Black, was medalist with a two-round total of 79.

Annie Guier led Smith-Cotton golfers with a runner-up finish, carding an 85.

Taylor Fisher finished sixth, firing a 101. Brooklyn Boeschen, Gracie Hoffheins and Gentry Fowler finished 9th, 10th and 11th, respectively.

Morgan Mateja tied for 14th with a 121.

Nevada finished third as a team, shooting a 482 and O’Hara placed fourth with a 517.

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

St. Pius X 2, Smith-Cotton 0

The Lady Tigers lost in two sets at home to St. Pius X 19-25, 14-25 Thursday.

Jenna Rapp led Smith-cotton with six kills, while Taylor Burlingame had 10 digs.

Annabelle Lorenz and Tori Jacobi had six assists apiece.

Sacred Heart 2, Northwest 0

The Lady Gremlins remained undefeated in conference (5-0) with a 25-12, 25-13 victory Thuesday over Northwest in Hughesville.

Anna Callis led Sacred Heart with 13 kills, while Hannah Wilhoit had nine.

Annalise Mergen had 22 assists as Sacred Heart’s setter.

The Lady Gremlins displayed solid overall defense, with six players registering five or more digs. Addy Wright led the team with nine.

Adrianna Belles had a three kills in four attempts and a kill block. Zoe Volcko had two kills, a block and two aces.

Sacred Heart (11-7-3) plays 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in La Monte.

Green Ridge 2, Tipton 0

The Green Ridge Lady Tigers defeated Tipton on Thursday 25-18, 25-13.

Madisyn Bridges led Green Ridge with 12 kills, while Quincy Scotten had 16 assists and seven digs.

LATE RESULTS

Northwest 2, Concordia 1

The Lady Mustangs defeated Concordia at home Monday 25-23, 24-26, 26-24.

Allison Barnes led Northwest with eight kills. Megan Walk had five kills, Avery Powell had four kills and Mattie Green had seven digs.

Megan Simpson added 16 assists.

Stover 2, Northwest 1

The Lady Bulldogs rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Northwest on Tuesday 25-27, 29-27, 25-16.

Megan Walk had 11 digs for the Lady Mustangs, while Megan Simpson had 23 assists.

Allison Barnes had six kills and four blocks for Northwest (13-5-1)
