Brackets drawn up for Legion tourneys

The brackets have been drawn up for the American Legion AAA Zone Tournament and the AA State Tournament, both of which begin Thursday.

The Rick Ball Ford Juniors and the Sedalia Travelers will open tournament play at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Travelers open the AAA Zone Tournament at Dey Field at Liberty Park against Rods Sports A’s at 8 p.m. Thursday. With a win, the Travelers will face Fike at 1 p.m. Friday. Oak Grove will play Independence at 5 p.m. Thursday in the other first-round game. The winner will play the Lee’s Summit Outlaws at 10 a.m. Friday.

Losers’ bracket games in the double elimination tournament begin at 4 p.m. Friday.

The championship will begin at noon Sunday.

In the AA State Tournament at Blue Springs, the Juniors will have to wait to find out their first opponent. Washington will play Fike at 3 p.m. Thursday with the winner moving on to face the Juniors in the winners’ bracket semifinal. On the other side of the bracket, Glendale will play Festus at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The winners’ bracket final and losers’ bracket games will be Friday with the championship game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and the second championship game if necessary at 1 p.m. Sunday.
