Cornell claims victory at Double X

Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell picked up another ASCS Warrior Sprint Car win at Double X Speedway, winning the Clyde Wood Memorial on Sunday.

Cornell claimed the lead with a low-line pass of Jack Dover on lap 18. Cornell held off Dover until Dover made contact with the wall coming out of turn two. After the restart, Cornell held off a charge from Ricky Stangl for the win.

Stangl will enter the final weekend of racing with a 21 point lead over Cornell in the driver standings.

TJ Muths finished 10th. Kevin Ulmer was 13th.

In the ‘B’ feature, Sedalia’s Will Register was ninth.

Dwayne Benson of Sweet Springs was fifth in the 600cc Micro Sprints. Maty Miller of Sedalia was 10th.

Tipton’s Tim Cressley was fifth in the Street Stocks.

Gage Wineland of Syracuse won the Hobby Stocks with Chuch Coffey of Windsor third, Katie Goodson of Sedalia sixth, Kevin Prall of Sedalia seventh and Mike Schrader of Sedalia eighth.
