HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Northwest 18, Slater 0 (F/5)

Rylan Chamberlin and Connor Tichenor combined for a no hitter Friday as the Mustangs opened its season in Hughesville with an 18-0 victory over Slater.

Chamberlin threw four innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Tichenor pitched the fifth inning, striking out the side.

Tichenor went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI. Braiden McEachern went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and RBIs each.

Alex Breshears scored a pair of runs and RBIs apiece, while Garren Powell did the same with two stolen bases.

Northwest (1-0) hosts Santa Fe 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hughesville.

Lincoln 14, Green Ridge 0 (F/5)

Derek Stephens had three hits and two RBIs in a 14-0 Lincoln home victory over Green Ridge on Friday.

Mason Sanders, Sam Hinrichs and Corbin Reese also batted in a pair, while Grant Eifert scored three.

Pitching for the Cardinals, Connor Spunaugle allowed one walk and hit each in four innings, striking out 10.

Eifert closed the door for Lincoln, striking out two in a scoreless inning.

Lincoln (1-0) hosts Lakeland 5 p.m. Tuesday.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Central Missouri 12, Nebraska-Kearney 2

The Mules (16-4) scored three runs in the first and piled on nine more through nine frames against Nebraska-Kearney on Friday in Kearney, Kansas.

Travis Stroup hit his second home run for the Mules this season, while Collin Nevil hit his first. Stroup was 4-for-5 with four RBIs.

UCM continues its series with the Lopers 2 p.m. Saturday.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Ohio State 5, Missouri 4

Lilli Piper hit a go-ahead triple in the ninth to help Ohio State beat Missouri, 5-4, at the USF Tournament in Clearwater, Florida on Friday.

Madi Norman (6-5) took the loss in the circle for Missouri, surrendering four runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Missouri 9, Rugters 1

Missouri beat Rugters in five innings Friday at the USF Tournament in Clearwater, Florida, 9-1.

The Tigers scored five runs in the second and four runs in the third. Anna Reed finished with four RBIs and a home run.

Cheyenne Baxter (4-2) picked up the win pitching for Missouri.

Missouri (14-11) continues the USF tournament 11 a.m. Saturday, facing North Dakota State in Clearwater, Florida.

Central Missouri 9, Wayne State 1

The Jennies defeated Wayne State in the Missouri Wester Regional Crossover in St. Joseph on Friday, 9-1.

Central Missouri scored nine runs on 10 hits against a pair of Wayne State pitchers.

Alexa Bradley (4-7) allowed five hits in six innings pitching for the Jennies.

Central Missouri 2, Upper Iowa 0

Katie Giacone (3-4) pitched a complete-game shutout for the Jennies on Friday in a 2-0 victory over Upper Iowa in the Missouri Western Regional Crossover in St. Joseph.

She struck out six and allowed seven base runners.

Allie Dishinger broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth. Lauryn Deer score Carlie Rose by the same fashion for a seventh-inning insurance run.

UCM (9-14) continue the Missouri Western Regional Crossover at Noon on Saturday, facing Sioux Falls.
