The Stover volleyball team competed in the Holden Tournament on Saturday, going 3-3 in pool play to take second in the pool before losing to Holden in the first round.
Against St. Paul, the Lady Bulldogs dropped both sets, 25-20, 25-19. Mallory Uptegrove had nine kills, seven digs and two blocks. Ashley Schroder had six kills and five digs. Lacey Buck had 15 assists.
Stover split with Lexington, losing the first set 25-18 before taking the second 25-19. Uptegrove had 10 kills and six digs, Schroder had three kills and nine digs. Buck had 12 assists, three kills and four digs. Taylor Beckmann had five digs.
Stover swept Pleasant Hope 25-7, 25-10. Uptegrove had 10 kills, two aces and four blocks. Schroder had three kills, two aces and four digs. Buck had 12 assists, four aces and four digs.
In the 25-15, 25-15 loss to Holden, Uptegrove had four kills, five digs and three blocks. Schroder had two kills and seven digs. Buck had seven assists and eight digs.
Sturgeon 9, Pilot Grove 7
A six-run fifth led Sturgeon to a 9-7 win over Pilot Grove on Friday.
The Tigers led 4-3 before Sturgeon’s big inning. Pilot Grove cut the lead to two with three runs in the seventh but could not get closer.
Brady Rentel and Reagan Meisenheimer each had two hits for the Tigers.
