Jordan Dey hit a two-run homer with two-out in the top of the ninth but Nevada rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to beat the Sedalia Bombers 8-7 in a MINK League game at Nevada on Tuesday.
The Bombers jumped in front with four runs in the third. Trey Hair drove in Justin Holt and Stewart Nelson with a single. Hair then scored on a Trey Harris single and Jordan Dey hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Jonathan Ramon.
Nevada scored one in the fourth and three in the fifth to jump ahead 5-4 before the Bombers tied it in the seventh when Ramon singled to drive in Nelson.
One former Bomber was picked in the Major League Baseball draft. Pitcher Peter Fairbanks was selected by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The Mizzou pitcher was picked in the ninth round, 258th overall.
Fairbanks made seven starts for the Bombers in 2013, recording a 3-3 record with a 3.50 ERA.
In 15 games with Mizzou this spring, Fairbanks recorded a 3.40 ERA, the 15th lowest in the SEC. He was also 12th in the conference in strikeouts with 79 including 11 in a Tigers win over Tennessee.
The Junior Bombers swept a doubleheader on Tuesday. They beat Pilot Grove 11-0 in the first game and Boonville 12-2 in the second.
Brenden Volcko pitched the first game. Ben Smeltzer had a pair of singles. Seth Fraley had a triple and a single. Jayce Simoncic had a pair of singles.
In game two, the Junior Bombers led 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth before scoring five runs off four hits in that inning and adding four more in the fifth.
Jake McFail earned the win on the mound and hit a triple to end the game on the run rule. Smeltzer had a double and single. Simoncic went 3 for 3 with three doubles. Noah Azierre was 2 for 3.
The Junior Bombers (5-1) will face the Travelers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
