S-C volleyball edges California


Playing three close sets in California, the Smith-Cotton volleyball team beat the Pintos 25-21, 26-28, 27-25 on Monday in a match S-C coach Darcia Koetting said took sheer detrimination from the Lady Tigers.

“I really feel like the girls worked together as a team and just never gave up on the ball,” Koetting said. “We had so many good saves from everyone on the team.”

Courtney Koetting had 18 kills, two blocks, 15 digs and 20 assists for S-C. Montana Hedrick had 13 kills and 14 digs. Bailey Curry had seven kills, three blocks and 18 digs. Tori Jacobi had five kills, nine digs and 20 assists. Emilee Edgar had three kills, five digs and served an ace. Darby Simon had two kills. Miranda Gunn had four digs. Fernanda Alexander added 19 digs.

Smith-Cotton (22-2-1, 10-1 WCC) will visit Marshall on Tuesday.
