The Lady Roadrunners did not hold very many leads, but led when the clock ran out, beating North Iowa Area Community College 83-81 on Friday to open the Dale Howard Classic at Ellsworth Community College.
Zhanesha Dickerson put SFCC ahead with a shot with two seconds left. She finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kiante Johnson had 14 points and five rebounds. Thelma Williams had 14 points and eight rebounds. Alexis Cowan had 13 points.
State Fair trailed most of the way as North Iowa was 10 of 19 from 3-point range in the game and built a 44-40 halftime lead.
SFCC’s press caused 23 turnovers and the Lady Roadrunners went 13-27 from the free throw line.
State Fair (9-1) will face Ellsworth on Saturday.
State Fair 93, Cowey County 81
Three players in double figures led the State Fair Roadrunners to a 93-81 win over Cowey County on Friday.
Willie Jimerson Jr. led the way with 24 points, hitting 9 of 16 from the floor and 5 of 10 from the free throw line. Ronnie Rouseau III added 23 points, hitting
State Fair led by as many as 29 in the game, leading 54-25 late in the first half, before Cowey County began to cut into the lead, outscoring the Roadrunners 52-38 in the second half.
SFCC will face Coffeyville on Saturday.
